WATCH: Alnwick in new movie clip for Transformers 5: The Last Knight
Various scenes for Paramount's Transformers 5: The Last Knight were filmed in Northumberland last year. Movie fans were not disappointed as the stars of the latest instalment in the blockbuster series, Mark Wahlberg and Sir Anthony Hopkins, made an appearance in Alnwick and Bamburgh during filming.Ahead of the film's UK release next month, a new teaser clip was aired at the MTV Awards, focusing on the first meeting between Wahlberg’s Cade and Sir Anthony's Edmund Burton, as well as the Transformers Hot Rod and Burton’s robot dementia-inflicted associate, Cogman, and human Oxford professor Viviane Wembley (Laura Haddock). The clip shows numerous shots of Alnwick Castle and the Pastures.In the new film, humans and Transformers are at war and Optimus Prime has gone rogue. The key to saving the future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on earth. This installment, which will open June 23, marks the last from franchise director and producer Michael Bay.
Alnwick Playhouse is screening the film on Tuesday, August 1, and Tuesday, August 8.
