Three swimmers rescued by lifeboat after getting into difficulties off coast at Bamburgh

Seahouses and Howick Coastguard Rescue Teams were both called into action on Wednesday, August 5 to respond to a call of swimmers in distress.
The Seahouses lifeboat was launched at around 6.40pm and the swimmers were safely returned to shore at 7.30pm where they were attended to by paramedics.

Hide AdA statement posted by Howick Coastguard Rescue Team on Facebook added: “Treatment was administered by Coastguard Rescue Officers and a North East Ambulance Service crew for hypothermia and potential secondary drowning.
"Two of the casualties were taken to hospital by ambulance for further treatment. We wish them all a speedy recovery.”
The Coastguard issued a warning to the public about swimming in the sea when there are tidal currents and an offshore wind.
Teams also reminded swimmers to let someone know where they are and stay close to shore.
