Schools round-up: Democracy, poetry and bicycles
Schools across Northumberland celebrated the national event which aims to raise young people’s awareness of how local councils operate and how they can get involved in decision-making in their communities.
Meanwhile, spoken-word artist, poet and comedian Kate Fox visited the Duke’s Middle School in Alnwick as part of their National Poetry Day celebrations.

Hide AdShe ran a session with each class during which they wrote poems about school.
The sessions were practical and fun; pupils really seemed to enjoy them.
And at Amble Links First School, the PTA has just bought a new set of five balance bikes and helmets for the Early Years children from funds raised through discos, raffles, fairs and quizzes.
