'Huge response' to £200,000 pot offered up by police boss to help good causes in North East

Hide AdIn a recent social media post, PCC Kim McGuinness confirmed 185 applications have been submitted.
“Huge response to the coronavirus response fund – 185 in total. Thank you,” she said.
“This shows how great the need for vital support services is right now. It also shows how great the people of Northumbria are, wanting to help and make a real difference in their communities.
“From young people’s services to domestic abuse support, there’s been a great spread of really worthwhile bids covering our villages, towns and rural areas throughout the Northumbria Police force area.”

Hide AdThe coronavirus response fund will initially prioritise applications for organisations supporting the most vulnerable, including those at risk of domestic abuse.
It will also look at ways to support young people at risk of abuse, neglect or the impacts of poverty due to school closures.
Although the closing date for applications was April 9, a second round of funding is expected later in the year.
In a statement, PCC Kim McGuinness thanked her team for their work processing applications.
