Poignant ceremony for airmen
Organised by the Newcastle branch of the RAF Association (RAFA), the service at East Chevington cemetery paid tribute to the servicemen from Australia and New Zealand who are buried at the site.
Wreaths were laid on the RAF memorial and remembrance crosses on the graves of the ten men. The Rev Michael Boag, Rector of Upper Coquetdale, officiated.

Hide AdThose in attendance included an honour guard from RAF Boulmer, cadets from the ATC, veterans from the RAFA and many other organisations, local residents and children from Broomhill First School.
The special guests were Flight Lieutenant Damien Bruning of the Royal Australian Air Force and Lieutenant Gary Morris of the Royal New Zealand Navy.
