Schoolgirl Jessica, 9, follows in mam's footsteps with charity hair cut

Nine year-old Jessica Smith went under the scissors to lose nine inches of her locks. The hair she parted with will now be sent to the Little Princesses Trust, a charity which provides real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.
In April Jessica’s mam Michelle Walker-Smith, a director at Aqua Lettings in Morpeth, was scalped live on Facebook and raised over £1,300 for the Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust.

Michelle said: “She wanted to get it all cut off. But she decided to go for an undercut instead, then have it sent to the Little Princesses. Jessica just wanted to do it out of the goodness of her heart. I’m proud of her for thinking about others. She’s a very thoughtful little girl.”
Jessica is delighted to see her hair being put to good use and also with her new style.
She said: “I saw something on YouTube where this girl got her head shaved for charity. My mam said ‘Why don’t you get your hair cut too?’
